General

The practice.

  • Pilates classes focus on strengthening, muscle toning, stability, and flexibility, with the main emphasis being core strength. Teaching you how to stabilise a body part while moving the other. Pilates is a dynamic physical workout.

Yoga improves flexibility, balance and strength with a spiritual side to it as well. Yoga is has a bigger aspect of mental practice.

Both practices focus on breath, alignment, balance, strength and flexibility.

Strengthening your core and other stabiliser muscles in pilates will give you better platform in yoga, when you get too flexible without the strength to support it and you might get injured.

  • There isn’t! As long as you are long enough to place your feet on the footbar while lying down on the reformer carriage, as well as being able to get on and off the reformer safely, you’re gold!
