group classes vs privates
How do i decide?
new to pilates?
Firstly, welcome! We’ve all been where you are at, and we know how you feel!
One of the common questions we get asked is they should go for group classes or private classes instead? As easy as that question sounds - there is so much to unpack there. So let’s chat about that.
Step 1
Group classes at SO are Reformer based, and we have max of 10 machines at our studio. Here at SO, we try to simulate as much of a private session and tailoring the workout for each and every one of our clients, but for a group class, there’s only this much we can do. Our friendly and knowledgeable Instructing Team are always here to help, so feel free to have a chat after class with them if you are finding some of the moves a bit confusing, or need a bit more of a tailored advice on what you need to work on.
Reformer Pilates is a form of low impact resistance strength training, with the supportiveness of the Reformer to help cater to all at different strength level. With The SO Method, we tailor each class to work on strength training, mobility, control and flexibility. Naturally, some classes are tailored towards one aspect more than the other, so you might find that our classes are same same but different each time!
Here’s are some of the benefits of Reformer Pilates -
Improves Core Strength and Stability.
Improves Posture & spinal alignment
Injury prevention & management
Improves balance & coordination
Improves mental wellbeing & reduces stress.
Private classes at SO are multi-equipment. We are one of the few studios in Auckland, that are fully equipped with all Pilates apparatus. All of our SO Instructors are multi-equipment trained. So what does that means?
All SO Instructors are certified in teaching Reformer Pilates, along with certification in Cadillac/Trapeze Table, Barrel & Chair.
Here are some of the benefits of Private classes & Multi-equipment -
Personalised & tailored session on what you want to work on.
Targeted movements focusing on technique and proper movements/muscle activation to increase the effectiveness of the session.
Work into deeper ranges of movement of your body without the support of the Reformer.
Opportunity to work on specific muscle imbalances & targeting specific areas for toning and improvement.
Improved mental wellbeing & reduces stress levels.
Experience Pilates on different apparatus.
One-on-one education and learning of how your body moves, and how to engage muscles.
reformer or multi equipment?
how often in a week?
Step 2
The true benefits of Pilates can only be felt if you come more than 2 times a week.
We get it, we’re all busy, if you can only prioritize 1 session a week to work on your body, then we recommend investing in a private session, so you are able to get a tailored session that is going to be beneficial for you.
If you can commit to doing more, we recommend either hopping onto our memberships (as low as $6.80 per day for group classes), and if you are waiting to experience more than just group class, to supplement group classes with private sessions.
